Spend the day as a scientist.
The conference, now in its second year, aims to inspire students to be more curious about STEM careers. It will provide information as to how students can pursue STEM through high school classes and eventually their post secondary educational pathway and guidance about which STEM field might be right for students. In addition to this, the students will have the chance to hear from current OA students about what Oliver Ames has to offer that aligns with their interests. Featuring a whole new array of presenters and careers to present about, the conference is back and better than ever.
STEM careers are on the rise, holding the highest average pay, lowest unemployment rate, and highest percentages of demand by employers. The conference's goal is to open kids eyes to the possibility of a future in STEM that they have perhaps never thought of before.

The students will arrive at 1 PM on Saturday October 19th. After checking in, the day will commence with a keynote speech for everyone and then an optional 30 minute class for parents detailing what Oliver Ames has to offer for students interested in STEM fields, including classes and extracurriculars. We encourage all parents to attend these if possible! Beginning during this parent class, the students will attend 6 unique, interactive STEM classes designed to foster curiosity about different STEM fields. The program will conclude at 5:30 PM.

The day will begin with the keynote speaker. After this, the students will break up into smaller group, and each group will attend one of the seven 40-minute classes, listed above. Each class will consist of a presentation on careers in the related field, a discussion of what the presenter does with his/her degree in this field, and an interactive activity relating to this field. Presenters will approach their fields from new and unique ways to show students the versatility of STEM degrees and to show that every student can find a STEM field that interests them.
